About Aluminium Copper Bimetal
Aluminium Copper Bimetal
Backed by the sound warehousing unit, we are capable of offering an extensive range of Aluminium Copper Bimetal. These copper bi-metals are widely used in different applications such as circuit breakers, switch plant, switch blades, motor control centers and apparatus construction. Our Aluminium Copper Bimetal is well recognized in the market for its salient features such as robust construction, dimensional accuracy and impeccable performance. We are offering this metal to our customers at very reasonable prices.
Further Details:
Aluminium copper bi metal (ALCU) consists of copper (sheet metal) cladded on pure Aluminium (base metal), both metals being diffused together to form an inseparable whole by roll bonding process.
Bi Metal, is therefore not an alloy and copper layers are not Electro plating / galvanic coatings but are rather mechanically welded on Aluminium with Copper sheets.
Aluminium Terminals are directly connected to Copper Terminals to carry current at a high voltage, a bimetallic galvanic corrosion occurs, resulting in a high resistance at the joint. The heated joints are oxidized and losses contact resulting in sparks, voltage dropout power losses and failure, damage to machinery.
When bimetal is placed between Aluminium Terminal and Copper Terminal at the joint (with Copper facing Copper and Aluminium facing Aluminium), bimetallic galvanic corrosion is averted due to absence of air in bimetal.
Bi - Metal is thus used at dissimilar metals joints of Aluminium and Copper to make similar metal's contact.
Bi - Metal has been successfully evaluated and used by many of the world's leading electrical equipment manufacturers.
Aluminium - Copper BI-Metal Terminals:
AI-Cu bi-metal terminal are used for connecting aluminium cable to copper busbars.

FAQs of Aluminium Copper Bimetal:
Q: How is an aluminium copper bimetal sheet manufactured?
A: Aluminium copper bimetal sheets are typically manufactured using either explosive bonding or roll bonding processes, which securely attach a layer of high-purity aluminium to a pure copper base. This process ensures a reliable metallurgical bond with consistent conductivity throughout the sheet or plate.
Q: What are the main applications of aluminium copper bimetal sheets?
A: These bimetal sheets are extensively used in electrical connectors, busbars, cable lugs, and earthing strips. Their combination of conductive and anti-corrosive properties makes them ideal for both industrial and commercial electrical systems.
Q: When should I choose bimetal sheets over pure metal options?
A: Bimetal sheets are recommended when you need enhanced conductivity, weight reduction, and cost-effectiveness without compromising strength. They particularly benefit projects where joining aluminium and copper is necessary to avoid galvanic corrosion and improve electrical performance.
Q: Where can I source custom-sized aluminium copper bimetal plates in India?
A: You can obtain custom-sized aluminium copper bimetal sheets and plates from reputable distributors, exporters, importers, suppliers, and traders across India. We offer tailored sizes and thicknesses to suit your specific project or application requirements.
Q: What are the benefits of using aluminium copper bimetal in electrical applications?
A: The bimetal combination provides excellent conductivity, reduces contact resistance, and prevents galvanic corrosion at the interface. This ensures long-term reliability and efficiency in electrical connections, busbars, and earthing strips.
Q: How do I specify the appropriate weight and dimensions for my application?
A: Simply provide your required length, width, and thickness when placing an order. Our bimetal products can be manufactured as per your specifications, with standard sheet sizes ranging from 300mm x 300mm and thickness between 1mm to 10mm.
