About Automatic Changeover (Generator - Mains)

Automatic Changeover (Generator - Mains)

We offer automatic mains failure panels that are installed for automatic changeover from mains to stand-by generator at the time of power failure. Fabricated from premium quality raw material, these automatic changeover are durable, corrosion resistant, dust and vermin proof. Easy to operate and install, the panels are used in areas like foundries, apartments, textiles, sugar and chemical industries.

Application:

AMF Panel & Battery Chargers are used where the generators are installed between main AC and load. It will Start and Stop the Generator automatically and Changeover the EB/Generator lines.

Models & Amps/ Kva Rates: 2Kva, 3Kva, 5Kva, 7.5Kva, 10Kva, 2000Kva and more.

Features:

  • Auto/Manual Selector is available
  • Auto delay in start of genset
  • Genset stop with delay of 3 minutes
  • Hooter-alarm annunciation for fail to start
  • Checklist to find the fault and to correct
  • 4st switch control for healthy start and stop of genset
  • Manual Start & Stop Switch
  • Emergency Stop switch is available
  • Auto LLOP (Low Lube Oil Pressure) and (High Water Temperature) protections are available. (LLOP & HWT Sensors-Relays are not part of this panel. We provide control wires. Generally generator technicians shall provide this safety sensors according to their Generators standard.)
  • Cost of 2nos of 4st/Qst switches and 12V heavy- duty stop solenoid are added
  • All comes in a 14 /16 Swg panel with door.
DG synchronizing relays are used to sense the voltage,  frequency and phase angle of both the DG and give output command  for breaker close when both the DG and give output command  for breaker  close when both the DGs are synchronized. In automatic synchronizing it also gives command for increasing/decreasing voltage and frequency. In synchronizing panels the other important product, which is used necessarily, is load balance relay. The load balance relay is used to ensure that both DGs share equal load. Teknika has good experience in manufacturing these relays and reputed organization/institutions have used these relays.

ACCEPTANCE TESTS

SWITCH GEARS has the following standard Acceptance tests as part of their
Draw out type Main Change Over Panel Testing,

  • A general visual check shall be earned out. This shall cover measurement of overall dimension, location, number and type of devices, location and connection of terminals etc,
  • Manual and electrical operation of Circuit Breakers / Relays shall be checked under the worst conditions of auxiliary supply voltage.
  • Dry insulation test with power frequency voltage shall be conducted for the main and auxiliary circuits.
  • Insulation resistance of the main and auxiliary circuits shall be checked before and after power frequency voltage withstand test.
  • Operation check shall be carried out for every control function /interlocks as per the schematic diagrams by manually simulating fault conditions and operation of control switches/relays etc.
  • For equipment bought from other sub-suppliers, certified test reports of tests carried out at the manufacturers works shall be submitted. Normally all routine tests as specified in the relevant standards shall be conducted by the sub-supplier at his works.
  • Interchange ability of similar modules shall be checked on a random basis this maybe done on one module of each size.

Rapid Switching with Advanced Microcontroller

Leveraging microcontroller-based control, this panel provides near-instant switching (less than 1.5 seconds response, under 3 seconds switching) between generator and mains. This guarantees minimal power disruption, protecting sensitive equipment and maintaining operational continuity in all environments.

Versatile Application and Customization

Designed for flexibility, it caters to residential, commercial, and industrial usage. Compatible with both standard and custom generator capacities up to 25 kVA, and available in single or three-phase configurations, the panel can be tailored to specific requirements, from standard to custom sizes.

Reliable, Safe, and User-Friendly Operation

Equipped with comprehensive protection features including overload and short circuit safeguards, overheating protection, neutral link, and LED status indicators, this changeover panel ensures safe, efficient, and transparent operation, along with manual or auto changeover modes for additional control.

FAQs of Automatic Changeover (Generator - Mains):

Q: How does the automatic changeover panel operate between mains and generator supply?

A: The panel continuously monitors the mains power supply using a microcontroller. When a power failure or instability is detected, it automatically switches to the connected generator within three seconds, ensuring an uninterrupted supply. Once mains power stabilizes, the panel reverts to mains without manual intervention.

Q: What are the main benefits of using this changeover panel in my installation?

A: It offers reliable, quick power switching to prevent downtime, integrates overload and short-circuit protection for safety, provides instant visual status via LED indicators, and supports both manual and automatic modes for operational flexibilityall within a robust, long-lasting enclosure.

Q: When should I opt for a custom model of the changeover panel?

A: You should consider a custom model if your generator capacity, pole configuration, or panel dimensions differ from the standard offerings, or if you require specialized features for unique residential, commercial, or industrial applications. Customization ensures precise alignment with your specific power management needs.

Q: Where can this automatic changeover panel be installed?

A: The panel is designed for wall-mounted installation in indoor or sheltered outdoor spaces, suitable for residential apartments, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities across India. Its powder-coated metal body and IP44 rating provide durability and protection against dust and splashes.

Q: What is the process for switching back to mains supply after generator use?

A: Once mains power is restored and stable, the microcontroller detects the change and seamlessly transitions the load back to mains. The process is automatic, maintaining the integrity of connected devices and requiring no manual input, though a manual override option is available if needed.

Q: How does this panel ensure safety during operation?

A: Safety is ensured through built-in overload and short-circuit protection, overheating prevention, insulated terminal connections, and a robust enclosure. The LED status indicators provide real-time monitoring, while mechanical and electrical lifespans guarantee reliable performance over extended use.
